Service: CA "LUST" Clean Up Fund Projects
The State of California has a Leaking Underground Storage Tank Clean-Up Fund (the Fund) that pays up to $1,500,000 for assessing and cleaning the soils and groundwater that are impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons from leaking underground storage tanks. The Fund has a deductible of $5,000 to $10,000.
The Fund is only available to qualified firms and individuals that can adequately document their case. TRG offers assistance and guidance in applying to the Fund and seeking reimbursement. After the application process, it may take several months to determine eligibility for the Fund and to be assigned a claim number. Small business owners are the Fund’s priority and TRG’s specialty.
When TRG performs assessment and remediation work for clients in the Clean-Up Fund, TRG’s billings are prepared to conform to the acceptable standards of the Fund, including supporting documentation and subcontractor mark-ups. As an added convenience, TRG promptly prepares Clean-Up Fund reimbursement claims at no charge to our clients.

| This high profile project was undertaken in a dense residential commercial area of Long Beach, California, across from a fire station. Public interest and concern about noise were paramount concerns. The Reynolds Group performed assessment and pilot testing and eventually installed a full scale air sparging system to remove gasoline from the groundwater. | |||

| TRG worked with legal counsel to resolve the litigation between the property owners, providing remedial options analysis, cost estimates and technical expert support, which resulted in a court-approved settlement. In 1998, five underground storage tanks were removed, including one 12,000-gallon diesel UST, two 10,000-gallon USTs, and two 5,000-gallon USTs. Fifteen groundwater monitoring wells have been installed to assess the groundwater plume on and off the property. | |||
