ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTING & CONTRACTING

Industry: Gas Station/ Underground Storage Tank Owners

Since 1989 The Reynolds Group has been helping gas station owners assess and remediate the soil and groundwater contamination at their sites, receiving Closure (No Further Action) letters from regulators for hundreds of cases. The Reynolds Group removed thousands of UST's in the 1990's leading to a significant backlog of assessment and remediation cases. In addition, The Reynolds Group continues to take on new cases as the demand for competent, ethical, and proactive consulting services has grown.

The Reynolds Group provides a complimentary initial review by a principal in the firm, of any gas station situation, question, or technical report. Many gas station owners do not know the next steps in advancing their cases and the Reynolds Group can provide such direction. The Reynolds Group is also very familiar with State Leaking Underground Storage Tank Funds (such as the California State Clean-Up Fund)and can assist or direct clients towards seeking reimbursement of their assessment and remediation costs.

The Reynolds Group has provided UST assessment and remediation services under the regulatory auspices of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal EPA), the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), the California State Water Resources Control Board (through the nine Regional Water Quality Control Boards), as well as a variety of county and city fire departments and environmental health care agencies.

The Reynolds Group is capable of providing turnkey services including permitting, assessment, pilot testing, remediation, operations and maintenance, groundwater monitoring, and financing. The Reynolds Group pushes projects forward from start to "No Further Action."TRG staff are very comfortable interacting with city officials, regulators, attorneys, property owners and tenants, to ensure that all parties are satisfed and projects stay on track.

TRG worked with legal counsel to resolve the litigation between the property owners, providing remedial options analysis, cost estimates and technical expert support, which resulted in a court-approved settlement. In 1998, five underground storage tanks were removed, including one 12,000-gallon diesel UST, two 10,000-gallon USTs, and two 5,000-gallon USTs. Fifteen groundwater monitoring wells have been installed to assess the groundwater plume on and off the property.
